Sam Altman Turns Down Musk's $97.4 Billion Bid

Elon Musk and Sam Altman's long-going feud has recently heated up again. The battle erupted after a group of investors led by Tesla CEO Elon Musk offered Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, about $100 billion to buy the company.
With this unsolicited bid, Musk said he hopes to return OpenAI to being "the open-source, safety-focused force for good it was once."
The offer, however, faces significant challenges, as Sam quickly turned down the offer and wrote on X, "No thank you but we will buy Twitter for $9.74 billion if you want."
Later, the post drew a sharp rejoinder from Musk, who wrote "Swindler" in the comment section.
The acquisition attempt comes as OpenAI seeks a $40 billion investment round sponsored by SoftBank, which could value the company up to $300 billion. The firm is also attempting to spin off its charity arm, which now runs the organization.
Musk and Altman co-founded OpenAI, a nonprofit, in 2015. Later in 2019, Musk left the company due to a disagreement with the AI startup and Sam took over as CEO. However, he has now filed numerous legal complaints, alleging that OpenAI compromised its initial objective by becoming a for-profit subsidiary and collaborating with Microsoft.
